A Special Card for a Special Friend

by Katerina
(Samos Island Greece)

Orthodox Christians celebrate their name in special days (anniversaries) for example we celebrate the name Christina on 25th of December John on 7th January and so on.

So I made this card for a special friend Katerina on her nameday on 25th November.

I had to work with papers I found in the local bookstore (as I don't have the possibility to buy more specialized papers and things as I've been without work for more than 2 years now).

Then I put it in a small box that I also made and give it to her as a gift. Simple but lovely, don't you think?

I thank you so much for sharing your ideas with us, it makes me feel happy when I make my own cards and things.

Christina says ...

Thank you for explaining about "Name Days" Katerina as this is an anniversary that is new to me and I am sure many other people too.

The card to complete the celebration is lovely and I am more than happy to share with everybody.

It makes you happy to create your own cards and it also makes me happy when I see how others have interpreted the ideas on the website.

There are lots of tips, ideas and techniques and you will find them in the NavBar to your left. Take your time ... browse around and you are sure to find something that you want to try.

Then don't forget to add the photos to the Gallery with as much information as you can and that way others will know what your card is for and how you made it.

Love album

by Katerina
(Samos Island Greece)

Well here I am again. I think I have to show you a mini album I created for my sons girlfriend.

I think it's my best for the moment! What do you think?

Christina says ...

I think it is really beautiful Katerina and I am sure both your son and his girlfireind would have been delighted with it.

Mini albums are always very personal creations and this one is no exception. They become real "Keepsake" gifts.

The colours are well put together and I love the heart shape.

You could add photos to the pages and pockets for the recipient to store momentoes inside.

Wedding Card and others

by Katerina
(Samos Island, Greece)

Some cards I made for my friends, just to show my love.

Christina says...

What could be nicer than sending a card to your friends, and nothing is better than one you have made yourself.

It is more personal and your efforts are always greatly appreicated by those that recieve one of your designs.

Just taking the time to creat something so pretty says a lot about the regard you have for family and friends and I hope they take the time to tell you how much they like the card they have.

You will find many good ideas in the NavBar to your left and lots of folds that you may like to try, none of them are hard but they will produce the kind of card that you will be proud to give.....with lots of love.

Mini Lady Album

by Katerina
(Samos Island Greece)

Well here I am again! Christina you gave me a special idea with the tutorial for the mini book...and I'd like to share my creation with you.

I made a differnt card for every single page and I intent to give it as a present to my best friend on Tuesday 8th of November for her nameday!! What do you think?

Christina says ...

The Mini Book is a really good project for adding lots of items that would be of special interest to the recipient.

You can add quite a few pages and decorate them as you wish. I see that you have added the little figure with the head and shoulders to one of your pages.

The instructions for this are on the Red Hat Card in the Novelty Cards section.

You will find this and lots more in the NavBar to your left. Have a browse around the Easy Projects.

I am sure you will find lots to keep you busy for quite some time.

I also made a special box to keep the album safe.

Christina says...

Making boxes is always a really good way to keep the special card that you have worked on safe and clean and theycan be deocorated to match the theme of the card iteslf for a co-ordinated look

You will find a Video Tutorial on how to make a box to fit a standard sized card.

There are also written instructions to make a Special Card Box with a carry handle and you will find that in the Papercrafts section.

Hand made Love Album For my Son

by Katerina
(Samos Island Greece)

Dear Christina here I am again. First I'd like to send you my best wishes for New Year and wish you a creative 2012 with plenty new cards and tutorials to share with us.

I have to show you a word album for Valentine's day I made for my special son and his girlfriend! (Maybe it's a little early...but I am so excited that I managed to do it all by hand)

First I cut the letters using cardstock, then I bought a kit called LOVE BIRDS and I made this lovely word album.

I also used papers from my mariposa kit. Also lots of embellishments and lace (I love lace of any kind!!)and this is what I've done!

Hope you like it. I enjoy it very much.

Christina says ...

This album is lovely Katerina and I am sure your son and his girlfriend will be delighted with it.

This kind of item is most definitly a "Keepsake" and one that any recipient would treasure. They are such a personal gift and can be made more so if you know the person that is going to receive it.

The instructuons to make Wordbooks and Memory Bookscan be found in the NavBar to the left.

My Small Creations

by Katerina
(Samos Island Greece)

Dear Christina hi from Samos Greece. It's been lot of time since I've send you my last creation.

That's because I'm leader to Greek Guides and the team we call STARS (children aged 5 to 7), the best age for me.

I had to prepare presents for Easter and Mother's day celebration and so I wish to share just some photo's with special handmade things I did for them!

First picture is for Easter card, candy box and paper bag.

Second the presents for mother's day.

Third my card for mom.

AND LAST but not least handmade tulip flowers we made for my STARS mother's with candy inside.

All are simple but they gave happiness to mothers especially if you consider that most families here in my country are not happy nowadays.

I used simple cardstock I cut everything by hand, such as butterflies and I also used the easel card template that I learned from you (I'm really grateful that you share such nice things with us).

And that's all SIMPLE BUT NICE TO GIVE HAPPY FACES.

Christina says ...

What a fabulous collection of cards and gifts and I am sure that each and every parent was delighted with what they got.

The children will have really enjoyed all the excitement and it is always a pleasure for grown ups too to craft with kids.

There are many simple and easy projects to do with them in the Novelty Cards and most of them only need puched or die cut shapes.

Children have wonderful imaginations and it would be fun to see what they come up with as they play.

It is only as we get older the we become reserved and we criticise our own work far too much instead of just revelling in what we are doing.
