Using your dies to Create a Stencil will give you more ways to get the most from any that you have in your own collection and it works with most die shapes and sizes
This technique works particularly well with large background dies as I have done in the video
It gives you another way to get your monies worth from the ones that you buy.
I have used embossing paste that I bought from the craft shows but there are many recipes on how to make your own and save you even more money
For the card shown I coloured the embossing paste with Distress inks to give me different tones and shades for my design
You then dress your card any way you wish to suit the recipient you have in mind
The tutorial will take you through the steps you need to get this look for your cards and the result is really very pretty.
It will need some drying time and I usually leave mine overnight and come back to work on it the next day, but if you wanted to speed things up then you can heat dry it with your heat tool
Make several at one time and then you will always have some on hand when ever you want to make another card with the same type of background.
In another video I showed you how to Creating Stamps from dies and again will give you more uses for any of your dies.
This card has been given a very feminine touch with flowers, ribbons and pearls, and a sparkly glittery backdrop to enhance them all
The flowers that I use are from
Wild Orchid Crafts
and there are many different styles for you to choose from
The glitter is a fine clear one called Chameleon from
Glitter Magic
You can create a stencil from card and you will get several uses from it before it disintegrates
Or you can use acetate. Save some money by using the acetate that comes in some packaging
You can also buy Mylar which is what bought stencils are usually made from.
I hope you have found these ideas useful and I hope that you will look at all your dies in a different way to see how you can make them work more for you.
After all they are not cheap to buy ... so if you can extend your uses then that has to be an added bonus to all of us.
Enjoy the video and don't forget to add your card photos to the
