Debut card for the Gallery
by Jan Shore
(Euroka, NSW, Australia)
I loved the mauve card made by Christina so I thought I would have a go myself.
The card I made is a top fold, 15cm square.
My first step was to cut the oval from a 14cm square of 300gsm card, which I did using Spellbinders Opulent Ovals.
I stamped the card using Versamark ink and a stamp which had a mesh background and butterfly on it. I then heat embossed using clear embossing powder to create a resist.
I used Distress inks Milled Lavender and Shaded Lilac to edge the card and the frame and to lightly colour the embossed areas.
I also used the resist technique to make the flowers. They are the smallest flower in the Heartfelt Creations Open Floret set.
I stamped and then heat embossed with clear powder before using the matching Heartfelt Creations Die. I again used Distress Inks to colour the flowers. I cut 12 of the little flowers and used four of each to make the three for the card.
I layered the top layer onto a mauve (possible Kaiser) piece of card stock cut at 14.5cm square and mounted the frame on foam tape to add some dimension.
The butterfly is from Jolee's Boutique.
The ribbon is a chiffon ribbon and is from my stash, as is the buckle.
The centre plaque is also from the Opulent Ovals with the sentiment from Kaisercraft and heat embossed with silver embossing powder.
The sentiment is for Mother's Day which is coming up in May here in Australia. Again I used Distress Inks Milled Lavender and Shaded Lilac to edge the plaque and lightly colour the background.
I layered the flowers on two leaves to add some colour and contrast.
The mauve layer was then attached to the white 300gsm card base using double sided tape.
The inner liner is a 120 gsm paper fold and cut to 145 square. I stamped a couple of butterflies on the inside just to add some interest.
I completed the card by adding my "Handmade by Jan" sticker on the back!
Thanks Christina for the inspiration.
