The crane is lovely & well done, however this technique is not iris folding, but is known as fancy folds. Iris folding has the papers rotating so that they appear to recede. if you look at the lens on a camera that can be opened to reduce/increase light, that is an "iris". Lindsay,I use inexpensive shiny papers & have also used wrapping paper & holographic paper as used to cover books! Anything goes as long as it's not too stiff!
